On January 18th two of our members of our Girls Build team joined some of our teachers at the Women's March in Downtown LA. It was our first time attending a major political event and it was an experience we will not forget! We met the week before and made signs together to bring, each of us brainstorming some of the key qualities and beliefs that truly capture what feminism and equality mean to us and what role models we see in our society that demonstrate this. On the sunny Saturday morning of the 18th we gathered with thousands of others to begin the march. For the next several hours we marched with thousands of others and listened to speeches by great feminist leaders. This event was not only a great opportunity for our team to bond with one another but also was an excellent reminder of how strong we can be when we stand together. This event was truly a great example of civic engagement for us to take part and learn from.
